Roles and Permissions
This is an overview of the different types of users/roles you may encounter in Classlist, and how they align with our current structure of PTV Representatives.
Parents
All registered caregivers of currently enrolled MIS students receive an invitation to join Classlist. Parents can comment on posts and announcements (unless comments have been turned off), create private events like birthday parties and invite individuals, list items for sale under the Listings section, join or create new social groups, create posts in groups they belong to, and direct message other parents. Parents are not able to make announcements to the entirety of the school. Any parent can report a post or announcement that they feel violates our community guidelines.
Ambassadors
Ambassadors are the Moderators for the Classlist platform. The roles are filled by elected members of the PTV Board (currently the President and Vice President, and Second Vice President, though this could change in the future). Ambassadors have visibility into all groups, listings and posts across the platform, but not direct messages. When any parent reports a post, it goes to the Ambassadors, who review it for compliance with our community guidelines, and remove the post if necessary, or close groups in extraordinary circumstances.
Class Reps
Otherwise known as Class Parents, these roles are filled during Back to School night to be the liaison between the parents of a home room and the homeroom teacher. This is only applicable for EC 4/5 through and including Grade 5. From grade 6 onwards, there are only Grade Reps, although Grade Reps may be added as Class Parents to the homerooms for visibility. There can be multiple Class Parents per homeroom.
Community Reps
This role is an all-purpose Representative role for any PTV group Representatives outside of Class Reps. This includes Grade Reps, School Reps and our “official” social groups and interest group reps, as well as PTV Board members who are not Ambassadors.
Staff
Some MIS Staff will engage with Classlist. Staff can make announcements and create groups - and then close the group once its purpose has been fulfilled. Parents cannot see any personal details on the profile of Staff members, nor can they message Staff directly. Staff cannot see any parent communication at all apart from comments on their own posts or announcements, nor message parents directly. Examples of Staff include teachers wanting to create an event or communicate about a school trip, or the school office staff to make school wide announcements.
Staff Admin
These are MIS Staff who engage with Classlist from a technical or ownership perspective, to protect the data and support the app’s integration with iSAMs, for example the data engineer responsible for the integration
